The City of Manchester, New Hampshire is producing the first-ever Tech-North Summit: an event to be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Center of New Hampshire – Radisson in downtown Manchester. Sponsored in part by UNH Manchester, Tech-North will explore the links between higher education and high tech through keynote addresses, panel discussions and informative break-out sessions. Breakfast and luncheon events, an evening reception and the High Tech Job Fair and Exhibition will provide networking, employment and social opportunities as well as the chance to see and experience new technologies, products and services.

Tech-North will feature headlining speakers from cutting-edge technology and research firms, along with leaders from higher education, business and government. Speakers include: the nationally-renowned inventor and entrepreneur Dean Kamen; Mark Huddleston, President of the University of New Hampshire; Fred Kocher, Chairman of the New Hampshire High Tech Council; Grace Kilbane, Regional Administrator of the Employment and Training Administration, US Department of Labor and former national director of Job Corps; Richard Ashooh, Vice President of Government Relations for BAE Systems; Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta; and New Hampshire Governor John Lynch.

Summary of Events

Tech-North kicks-off with a keynote breakfast followed by a series of concurrent break-out sessions covering topics that include Investment Capital, Entrepreneurship, Cutting-edge Technology and trends in Higher Education. A keynote luncheon breaks up the day, followed by a series of concurrent breakout sessions in the afternoon. Just before lunch, the High Tech Job Fair and Exhibition, sponsored and hosted by the NH Division of Economic Development and ClearChannel Broadcasting WGIR AM/FM Radio/Multi Media, will begin, featuring technology companies from across the region seeking new employees. As well, barcamp, a "guerilla" technology conference of sorts, sponsored, organized and hosted by people directly involved in high tech industry will run throughout the day. A tech-savvy event, barcamp kicks off without an agenda and is built on-premises by the hundreds of techies who flock to the event. In the evening, the Manchester Young Professionals Network and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce will co-host a reception celebrating and capping off Manchester’s first-ever Technology Summit.
